The d1git customer app is on Google Play

The d1git customer portal is now a native Android app. If I build, host or run search for your business, your projects, invoices, tickets, contracts and Google numbers are on your phone. What it does, how it is built, and why I made one.

The d1git customer app went live on Google Play on October 31. It is free, and it is for people who already work with me: businesses I build sites and apps for, host, or run search for. If that is you, it is the customer portal you already have, on your Android phone.

It is Android only. There is no iPhone version, and on an iPhone the web portal has everything in it, right in the browser.

What you can do with it

  • Sign in with a text. Your mobile number, a six digit code, and you are in. No password to forget.
  • Locked when you step away. Come back to the app after time away and it asks for your fingerprint or your phone's screen lock first, so a phone left on a counter does not open your account.
  • Light or dark. It follows your phone, or you pick one and it stays.
  • Projects. Each project with its kickoff and target dates, and the files I deliver for it: logos, brand books, documents, images and links, ready to open or download.
  • Invoices. What is open and what is paid, the line items and the PDF. Paying one opens Stripe's secure checkout.
  • Support tickets. Open a ticket, follow the whole thread and reply from the same screen.
  • Proposals and contracts. Read a proposal and accept it, or read a contract and sign it with your finger, right in the app, and keep the signed PDF.
  • Services. The hosting, domains and plans you have with me, with the date each one renews.
  • Your Google listing. Your rating, recent reviews, and the last 28 days of views, calls and website visits, plus the posts going out on your listing.
  • Map rankings. For the keywords I track for you, the grid that shows where your listing turns up on Google Maps, point by point across your area.
  • Reports, QR codes and links. Your monthly reports, and your QR codes and short links with how often people use them.

A few things still finish on the web portal on purpose. Replying to a Google review or publishing a post goes out publicly under your name, so those happen on the web, and so does adding a card. The app opens the right page for you.

How it is built

It is a native Android app, written in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose. It is not a web page in a wrapper. It is built from what the phone gives you, so it moves and feels like the rest of your phone, and files you download open in whatever app you already use for PDFs and images. Your sign-in is kept in encrypted storage backed by the phone's own keystore, not in a plain file.

Behind it is the same system the web portal runs on. A ticket you reply to on your phone is the same thread on your laptop, and an invoice paid on the web shows as paid in the app. There is no second copy of anything to keep in sync. It is the same approach I took with Moon Valley Med Spa's patient app.

Why make one for my own customers

I give clients a simple test for whether they need an app: do the same people come back again and again to do something? Mine do. They check on a project, answer a ticket, sign a contract, pay an invoice, see how their listing did this month. That is a job for something on the home screen, not a bookmark they have to find.

If you are a customer, install it from Google Play and sign in with the mobile number on your account. If you are not, this is also how I build apps for clients: native, on the same system as the website, with the store submission handled. More on that on the apps page.
